Something New is New!
Something New is finally here!
I think God’s been forming me into a writer since I was pretty small. From stapling pages together to self-publish my third grade works, to trying to write my own christian romance novel as a young woman, to enjoying writing essays when I went back to school, to writing a short lived food blog for the local newspaper. There’s been a little writer curled up asleep in my heart for ages. When I would wake her up and put her to work, I was pretty astounded at what she could do. Fast forward to the last year or so and I’ve been thinking how I really wanted to write more for God and to use this gift for his glory. I wrote a bit here and there and saved it on my Chromebook. A few weeks ago I went to log in after a long absence, couldn’t remember my password, and had to reset it. At that point I discovered that Chromebook’s safety settings wipe your files upon reset in case a thief were trying to access your computer. I threw and attended my own pity party that night. The next day while thinking on what I could do to get my files back, I told God about it, a bit overwhelmed that I may have to start this whole thing over again. And God told me “Don’t worry, I am doing a new thing. Your old writing was good, but now that you are surrendered to me fully (more on that later) the real writing can begin.”
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
Wow, suddenly I wasn’t upset anymore about losing those files. Now here I am, after taking half a day to figure how to set up my own web page; Something New is launching! I hope you’ll visit from time to time to see what God’s doing in my life and what he’s prompting me to write about. No matter where you are in life right now, God can do a new thing for you too. In fact, his word says His mercies are new every morning *. I also think God would understand if I took it a step further to say his mercies are new every few hours, minutes, seconds, after we’ve yelled at our kids, wanted to be less than christian in endless traffic, or just any time we feel alone in our total humanness. Bring on the mercies Lord!
